Christmas and Thanksgiving have always been difficult for me.  I moved from Bakersfield, California to the DC area many years ago, and the few times I’ve gone home for the holidays it’s been a real chore.  But my father is getting up in years now and had a health scare this year.  So I almost feel I don’t have a choice. This is a year to make that trip.

But when I went online to look at airfares, I just about canned that idea. Fares are coming in at $500 and more, depending on which day I travel. In order to make this trip, I’d have to sell my car.  I need it for work.  I couldn’t do that. 

But that got me thinking.  I went online after passing an auto title loan company on Mount Vernon Avenue here in Arlington, and found out my six year old Malibu qualified for a loan of about $600. I have bad credit, but that didn’t matter. I went with Car Title Loans in Arlington, because their online application is very simple and I was able to get fast cash — by the next day, as a matter of fact.

I bought that ticket with my debit card ASAP.  The airfares went up $50 three days after I bought that flight.
